hey guys,

I received my repainted and restored 1990 Civic Si hatch like 3 days ago.
I filled the tank with 93 gas (good) but I noticed whenever I let off the gas, I can hear a little bit of poppin sounds coming from the muffler. The engine is completely stock, except for headers. I just want to know if this
is normal for the car to do. when I drive its fine but if I let off the gas,
it has a deep throaty sound which is cool, but then theres a little bit of rumble and a bit of poppin' which doesnt sound bad at all, I just want to know if its normal.

It's normal for a car with a little more open exhaust. My crx lets out a burble and occasionally a pop when I lift.

 

This isnt bad. All your exhaust is doing is creating backpressure and when you let off the accelerator the built up exhaust gasses builds up in the muffler and are foreced out causing the popping noise.
