Well the only reason I got this was because I thought my stock clutch took a ****, it turned out to actually be second gear breaking many teeth off and rattling all inside the tranny. After Honda opened up the tranny and I realized what actually happened, I still went ahead and bought this. Honda is installing it for free along with the warranty work on the tranny.
Who has driving with a non-sprung center hub clutch? Just wondering how much different it really is going to be. I know the engagement is going to be ultra-quick. After it is broken in, I'll let you know my impressions.
nice...
the last Ogura clutch i drove was a twin disk...that pedal was super stiff...that thing grabbed GREAT and held great, but it didn't bite hard which i liked. it keeps it streetable if you must...
unsprung hub will just make your clutch quicker to grab...most people will not notice the difference.
i've driven sprung 4 puck's and unsprung 4 puck's and they've been hard to notice the difference. quicker engagement with less slop for sure...but hard to notice, you do tend to use the clutch differently between the two though.

It's only rated up to 300hp just like their normal 309 series. Just the carbon lasts longer, stays cooler, won't deform and is a bit lighter.

Will be waiting for ur write-up on this clutch.
Want to know if this is also noisy as the normal 309.
Everyone i talk to says ORC clutches are loud and chatter a lot.

Nice choice Chris! The machining on those flywheels puts the Toda to shame

Carbon disk won't chatter like the sintered metal ones
ORC (and OS Giken) use a full face carbon clutch disk, where as the ATS unit (at least the old one) looks like a 3-puck.

OK, thanks for the headsup.
Shane the machining is really nice. Hard for me to compare to the Toda without having it side by side, but remembering when I put the Toda in the old EG9 it too was a nice piece. OS doesn't have anything yet for the DC5 and the Ogura is well put together. Glad I didn't get the Exedy Hyper Carbon now.
How does it compare to the ATS carbon assembly, I really can't say. Price wise the ATS is about $300 cheaper. Not that is any comparison. I was looking at it as well when I placed the order, I could of picked up the 1300kg unit good for up to 420ps (not that I will ever be that high) but inside my head kept saying, "GET THE ORC, YOU WILL BE HAPPIER, IT'S ONLY MONEY".
EDIT: Also why I didn't go with the ATS, forgot to mention, the shop I ordered from the owner who I have known for the past 10 years said that supposedly the ATS carbon disk is not real strong. That the bonding process of the carbon is not all that or something. Please don't quote me on that, because I have no actual proof and it is just hearsay on my part.

Haven't you seen them, the clutch cover has neon lights on the bolts that attach it to the flywheel. Though it can't be seen it doesn't stop the crowds that like that **** from buying it. Come show time they drop the tranny and put the car on floor jacks with mirrors on the ground showing off the dancing neon lights to their audio system.
Yeah that was kind of weak.

I said the ATS was $300 less. The ATS goes for about $1100 here and this one cost me $1400.

My Action Clutch 1MD (unsprung) is kinda chattery/jumpy. Hard to go from a standstill smooth and hard to get into 2nd gear smooth when going slow. Annoying in stop-and-go but you can drive around it by using higher RPM when slipping the clutch.
I'm not sure about how much of this is because its unsprung.

In that case, you are a HARDCORE BALLER!!!
Now go buy some ENDLESS and project Mu brakes!!!
And where is your mid-engine top fuel turbo motor setup?! Get on the ball man!

why.... </TD></TR></TABLE>
That's the whole assembly with lightweight flywheel, balanced from the factory. But yeah it's still a lot of money.
I like ORC a lot but unfortunately it's another JDM brand that is not brought over here to the US. Maybe some shops carry it, but it definitely is not very common.
As for carbon product, ATS is still da **** IMO.
