Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do these work exactly? Is water just pumped through where air would normally flow?

Is there going to be a coolant circulation system? Or do you just fill the top chamber with ice and it melts during the run?

the hole in the middle is where a water pump bolts to.

Are you planning on running ice in the water jacket around the core? If so it may have been a good idea to put a course mesh over the core in order to protect the veins from ice impacts.

there is usually a screen type AN fitting that would be used on the outlet of the resivoir so no ice could actually escape from the resivour and possibly go through the pump or anyting else it would possibly damage.

i doubt it would be a problem... by the time the water/ice goes through the cores... considering there is no room to even get much by through the core... i wouldnt think much of a solid would remain once at the bottom

Yeah exactly, the draw is from the bottom and its basicly all water there because it just went through the intercooler and took on a bunch of heat to cool the air down.

what size core would you guys recommend for a Liquid to Air IC for a 450-500whp application?

thinking about swapping the HUGE fmic for a small liquid to air.
