If you don't want to spend the BIGGRIP
MB Quart - better sound
Boston Pros - more bump
In that order.

MB Quart 6.5" 2 ways in the rear, 6.5" components in the front (see pic for included crossovers) 2 10" Polk dB subs, w/ Soundstream Amps (4x100 RMS for the front and rears, 500X1 RMS for the subs)

Sony ES headunit CDX-C910 I believe is the model #...

since has been gutted...yeah, weighed too much, even though I enjoyed the high quality sound, performance prevails...

Boston Acoustic Pros in the front
MB Quart in the rear
4x100 Kicker Amp
Alpine Head unit
and 2 12"Punch Subs (too heavy)
Alpine 200X1 Amp for sub (will trade in for a better one)

I'll be getting just one sub this spring!

Since were talking about audio, i might as well share what i have. Eclipse 7301 head unit, focal 165 k3 3-piece components, focal 136k's in the rear, one 10 in solobaric and all pushed by 2 eclipse amps (34230, 32430) By the way, all this stuff needs to go so if anyone is interested~??? Sounds damn clean but this car is getting stripped~

I have two rockford 10's, a rockford amp, and a crappy sony head unit. Now I'm looking into Pioneer's all the way around!

What is necessary to get the sound improved signficantly in the ITR??

I changed my front speakers to Memphis PowerReference PR62S, improved the sound stage however the sound still isn't that great.

Is it the deck that sucks?

Because my GF Chevrolet Lumina has a better sounding stock stereo system??!!

MB Quart was recently bought out by Rockford Fosgate and being relocated to AZ and MI. I played tech support there for 2 years.....

Are the tweeters mounted in the factory location? If so, there's your problem. When the tweeter is more than 4" away from the woofer, you'll loose linearity and the tweeters will sound bright or harsh. Try mounting them coaxially or down in the kickpanel. It all depends on the location..... When I had my tweeters in the factory location, the highs almost ripped my ears off.

I'm poor and for the sake of weight I replace the sound system with a JVC KD-LX300 head unit and Cerwin Vega HED series speakers; 6.5" coax in the rear panels and 6.5" component set in the doors. Sounds way better, no sub yet though.

I have no plans to upgrade my stereo to the point of it causing weight addition. I had to get rid of that factory CD player though. It sucked. I get a lot better sound out of my Sony MD player with the factory speakers than the stock deck could ever hope for.
