No leak, No burn- still loose oil.
Ok this is something which really perplexes me. I have a 93 Accord LX with 113,000 miles. I treat my car better than my girl and do all maintainence work regularly myself with the help of a friend who is really good with cars. I dont drive her much, as I walk to work daily and only drive in the evenings and weekends (abt 500 miles a month).
My problem is she looses a lot of oil (no pun intended
), half a quart in fifteen days and I have done just two hundred miles. I have never seen a leak on the ground. Changed my valve cover and oil pan gaskets recently. I change my oil drain plug gasket every other oil change. Smelt the exhaust burn and it does not smell of oil.
This just does not make sense. My buddy thought may be the valve seals are going bad, but he is not sure. Thanks to maxlifes free oil offer I am ok. but I wanna fix the problem rather than just ghetto rigging it.
Any suggestions people? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Check piston compression - if above 180 psi, the rings are O.K. (I personally do not think its the problem.)
What I am thinking is that the problem could be the camshaft, crankshaft, oil pump, or distributor seal. Check areas below distributor and bottom of timing covers for any tattletale of leak.
Distributor seal is too small to generate a big leak as you mention but would not hurt to check. There are several oil seals inside the timing belt cover that one of the seals could leak. Also, it could be the main engine/crankshaft seal on the other side of the engine, inside the clutch/tranny housing that is leaking, but I doubt it. Have you tried newspaper under the engine and see if any drips and if so, trace it from there?
