Battery fuse keeps blowing???
Well i bought a new battery and when i went to put it on i broke the end of the cable and in turn made a spark and blew the battery fuse. So i buy a new cable and fuse and install them and now every time i go to attache the cable to the batter the fuse blows again??? I cant get the fuse to not blow when i attache the battery. Any ideas???
yeah, there has to be something touching the power wire or ground wire causing a short somewhere. and also make sure your putting positive on the "+" k?
not talkin ish.. just makin sure you're doing so. some battery's hide that symbol now it seems like

yeah....make sure youre putting it on the right post like 91TEG-G2 said....and you should connect the positive first, then negative....make sure your fuse is the right size too.
Well i just put new cables on both positive and negative and i did put the positive on first. I am using an 80amp fuse which only one parts store even has around here for a honda. Also of which ive bought em out.... Ive went through 3 fuses now. This is getting ridiculous. I cant figure this out.
Well turns out i took for granted that the posts would be in the same place on the new battery, turned out i put the cables on backwards. So it starts now. So now it starts fine and all but i cant turn any accessories on or the car will die. Like when i turn my headlights on it dies. Im assuming when i put the battery in backwards it may have blown other fuses, but i dont know what ones it would be. Does anyone have any ideas what would be wrong?

Well i checked all my fuses and replaced 2, but still shuttin down when accessories are on. All fuses seem to be fine know so i dont get it. With no accessories on the car has good charge, it starts up easy and motor sounds fine...
It's possible you damaged other components when you connected with reverse polarity. It's also possible you drained the battery. If you aren't mechanically/electrically inclined, a shop should be able to diagnose this for you for under $50. If you are mechanically/electrically inclined, refer to page 23-100 of the shop manual for troubleshooting.
I am very mechanically inclined, and like i said multiple times the battery isnt draining. And i called shops about finding the problem and they want $75 an hour to try to find the problem. May take 2 hours may take 3.......
Maybe when you had the battery in backwards, you burned some insulation. But unfortunately, instead of shorting to ground, it's shorting over to some other circuit. That'll be a real PITA, 'cause you might have to go wire-by-wire & verify everything.
Got a multi-meter? Got a wiring drawing for your year? (whatever year it is...)
Does this happen with every accessory? If you can find some that don't cause it to die, that can help narrow it down. Try everything, window motors, mirrors, defoggers, whatever...

How long does the car take to shut down after turning on the accessories? Try having the alternator checked out. That should be a $10.00 fee @ Sears, or a local shop should be $20.00. Good luck.
Well the alt was tested the same time my battery was. I just got it glat bedded over to my friend with a garag's house. Were gonna start checking all the wiring and voltages to pinpoint the prob hopefully tomorow. Anyone whos had to deal with wiring have andy helplfull tips or things i should be looking for?
Were both very inclined were both technicians for repairing circuit boards and a couple of my friends who work with have grad from ITT tech. Just never worked on a cars **** before.

Well we thought the alarm would be part of the problem along with the power wire running to the fuse box and the main grounds to the engine. So we took out the alarm and ran the new power and ground wires. Now for some reason the speedo only sticks at 18mph. I know its not the speedo cable since the mileage still goes up. Any ideas??
Also we checked the voltage with everything on and of and it all turned up fine. Nothing wrong with the battery and the alternator.

Well i just removed the whole harness and reattched ****, but still no tach. I dont see a single wire hanging anywhere or that looks loose. THe odo is still turning so i know its not the cable. The weird thing is the speedo is stuck at 18mph??
