92-96 prelude help! car cranks but won't start (wifes car)
HI
my wifes car is throwing a check engine light and will crank but not start.. I'm thinking it's the coil, which is external on this one, or the ignitor, in which I don't know if the ignitor is compatible with the civic ones or not.. its the 92 2.3 Si (bone stock).. so here is my questions..
how do I check for the check engine light codes? I know there is a plug back behind the radio, found it and I need to jump it.. ok.. now what?
and where is the ecu at? does this ecu have a red light on it? or do I look at the check engine light and count that light?
are the codes the same as 88-91 honda civic/crx or different? and if different can anyone post the ecu codes?
I can pretty much fix anything for a crx/civic (4th gen), but when it comes to this prelude, (checking ecu codes) I'm feeling a little lost..
I found two plugs below, and behind the radio, one is white, one is blue.. which one is the plug for the ecu (hey, that rhymes)
I jumped each one and turned the ignition on, and the check engine light (CEL) stayed on solid each time. isnt one an ABS plug? (I have abs too)
thanks

jump the plug, then turn the inition on. the code will flash.
the ECU is under the passenger side floor, near the firewall.
I have the codes at home, I'll post them when I get off work.

btw.. the ignitors are compatible. I'm using a 92-95 civic ignitor in my h22 distributor... check for spark via a timing light gun or something.

I had a problem with a cold solder joint on the fuel injection relay. Dealer found it. Said it happens to Accords alot, but they never saw it on a Prelude. Pull a spark plug to see if your getting gas. Might be the fuel. Good luck.
