For those of you stuck at home like me...
Only 4-6" here in Richmond. I went sliding around before work this morning, which proved my theory about Kumho 712's (not so much a snow tire). However, at this hour, all the highways and primary roads, plus most of the secondaries, are totally fine.

We don't have a single flake in NoVA. But I hear there's 10" in Richmond and 12" at the Beach. Incredible.

). So as long as the wheels are sitting at home ready to be put on at a moment's notice, it won't snow.
That's my theory anyway.

We won't get any snow here. A couple weeks ago when they were predicting snow, I ran to my storage place and got my snow tires/wheels for the Lightning. No snow fell. I figure getting the tires out of storage scared the snow away (kinda like bringing rain gear to the racetrack keeps the rain away

I've found that less-than-half tread depth RE92s are not terribly impressive in snow. Though they do allow for spectacular slides in open parking lots and let all 4 wheels spin if you happen to step on the gas a bit hard off the line, or hit boost once moving. I did figure out something interesting though. Snow on gravel actually provides for a substantial amount of traction. Although the snow is deep enough that I don't think the tires are pressing down onto the gravel, I was able to floor it til about 5000rpm (max boost) before the tires started slipping. Wheee fun!
Pat, put the V700s on and you'd probably have 2 feet tomorrow

This sucks . . . all you NC people are home for what I refer to as a "dusting" of snow and it is almost sunny here . . .
What a bunch of ***!
What a bunch of ***!
Well put those bastards back!
I especially don't want snow so that the idiot drivers around here are tranformed into complete incompetent idiots.

Sorry to disprove your theory, but I spent an hour in the dark, freezing cold last night putting on *my* snow tires and, currently, my car is covered in six inches of white, fluffy stuff... And I'm stuck at home watching The Practice reruns...
Pat, put those snow tires back, now! I want a day off work!

Jon, I could have told you about the "snow-worthiness" of Kumho 712s.
I learned the hard way last winter that they suck *** in the snow. Eagle GS-Cs weren't great, but they at least got me home.

Well I can imagine they wouldn't be too great, on a RWD car that actually has some power and torque! I can't afford those sorts of conveniences.

My car at intersections this morning was an exercise in "try to launch very gently but spinspinspin the fronts anyway, put it in 2nd, turn the steering wheel, have nothing happen, pull up the handbrake, rotate the car, release the handbrake while countersteering, apply throttle gingerly in 2nd, spinspinspin the wheels anyway, put it in 3rd, and hopefully keep it pointed in a straight line at 15mph..." Oh boy, that was fun!!!
