190.6 whp and 135.8 wtrq without ever removing the valve cover !!!
Well guys, went back to the dyno yesterday and I was very pleased with the results. If you recall last time I got 178.8 whp and 129.8 wtrq with the following mods:
Comptech Ice Box
JDM DC 4-1 header
Catco 2.5" hi flow cat
2.5" custom cat back
Spoon Cap/Thermoswitch/Thermostat
15x6.5 Racing Hart CP-035's
No Power Steering
15,000 miles
Since then, I added the following and went back to the dyno:
Vortech FPR
Apex VAFC
After the VAFC was tuned and all was said and done, I drove home with 190.6 whp and 135.8 wtrq. For those interested, the only things the tuner changed on the VAFC were:
Vtec x-over changed from 5700 --> 4800
Fuel corrections for hi cam:
4500 +1%
4800 +2%
5500 +1%
6000 +1%
7000 +2%
8000 -5%
9000 -6%
He left everything else at stock setting except for also changing my fuel pressure from 51psi (stock) to 54 psi.
For the record it was at Dynamic Autosports in Irvine, CA on a dynojet and the temp was 66.7 degrees F with a correction factor of 1.00.
What ya guys think...I will get a picture of the dyno posted as soon as I figure out how to use my new digital camera.

Nice...Are those #'s actual or SAE corrected?

Yes, the numbers were SAE corrected. I did 21 runs yesterday and the correction factors varied from .99 to 1.01 for small variations in temp/pressure. It just happened that on the final and best run, the correction factor was 1.00 exactly.
And yes, I'm running 5w30 Mobil 1 in the car. Thanks for the props guys!

By the way, what do you guys think of my VAFC fuel correction setting? Do those settings make sense considering I have a Vortech FPR that is raised to 54psi? I've always heard that ITRs run rich after being modified, so I was a bit suprised to see that the tuner actually richened the fuel until about 7000rpm. I'm assuming this richening was offset by some leaning caused by the FPR.
Does any of this make sense?

Good strong motor.
See people? ITR cams work.
My friend hit 189/135 as well.. but he changed his 98 intake cam to a 01 intake cam. Either way, stock compression, etc...

That makes me want to tune my stock cams more and hold off on the skunk cams or will the skunk cams do that and more...
Post your plot please. Just wondering, how did you tune your v-afc on a dynojet without any air/fuel data? You must have a very strong car out of the box.
Wow, those are high numbers. I have about the same setup, but with no cat. back done, and no fuel pressure regulator.
I was under the impression you didn't need a fuel pressure regulator because the ITR's ran rich anyways. Can anyone comment on this?

Damn that is some good power
Really makes me consider the ITR cams for my setup...or the Skunks2's as Ive heard tehy have the same good midrange but +10 more WHP up top

Assuming everything is verified and doubled checked (which I'm sure it is) this is really great stuff. It's guys like the author, who are not afraid to share what he has learned, that restores my faith in Honda owners, especially when there are are a lot of people giving us Honda owners a bad name.
Good stuff, and thanks for sharing! I'm sure it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

if you don't mind me asking, but how much did it cost you for the dyno tune? Btw, great numbers! you make me wanna get ITR cams
Yup, it was Aries over at Dynamic...he is the MAN !!!
So do you guys have any thoughts about my fuel correction setup?

Fuel looks fine to me...was pronbably running a little rich up top from the looks of it but thats all fixed now
Where does the HP/TQ peak at...did you get a A/F chart also?
LETS SEE THE CHART!!!!!
