my father-in-law is trying to sell his 1980 goldwing. it has 23000 original miles, new paint, looks and runs great. he is looking gor a 600 cc or bigger crotch rocket.

Depending on the price, I would ride that in a heartbeat. If you are a beginning rider it would probably serve you well but might be tricky getting used to its size. I've heard they are easy as hell wo work on, and the front brakes leave a little something to be desired. Consider a brake upgrade (rotors and pads) for safety reasons.

Take off all the fairings and it wouldn't look so strange.

i like older bike in comparison to the brand new stuff out there. i.e. vfr's, ysr's etc.

 

he is looking to get around $3500...or trade for a sports bike

 

Goldwings are quicker than you think, once you strip off all that extra weight. I'd ride a stripped down modified 80 goldwing.

 

I love old bikes... but I don't want a gold wing, good luck with the sale
