crx will not start!!!!!!!
hey im a noobie my dad has a 89 CRX Si he was commin home from work a couple of days ago and he said like little small pieces of red hot metal was falling off the car (the exhaust) the temp gauge was normal. He pulled off the side of the freeway turned off the car. got out and the converter was, he said, cherry red. he cooled it off with some kool-aid from his lunch box, let it set a while, then tried to start it, and it is like its way out of time, or not fireing, it just cranks over but wont start. He thinks the timing belt may have come off and screwed up the head. we dont know much about hondas we know more about the old skool engines 302, 351, 289 ect. but we have a z6 head and intake we was gonna put on it if that is what was wrong with it. To do that all we have to do is get new head bolts and rig up a plate for the dizzy right? sorry but we really didnt have time to look at it b/c we a remodling a house. any help would be greatly apriciated thanks
When you crank the car.. Does it make a whinning sound?? Like the engine is firing, but it's just spinning??? If so then it is a snapped timming belt.. Another way you can check is take off the timming cover, and have someone watch to see if the cam gear is spinning.. Post more with info after this..
yeah, I would be checking out the timing belt. get a manual and go through all the timing adjusting/checking stuff. maybe the converters just clogged up, mines done that before.
take off the distributor car off, and make sure the spinner is not burned, and that it has the screw holding it.
Same thing happened to me when i got my first REXXX
