are most aftermarket catbacks....
are most aftermarket catbacks for the itr the same diameter as the stock piping? i was trying to replace an apexi n1 exhaust with a stock catback and if i measured it correctly, it seems like they are the same size piping? if it is, then i'm just gonna remove the muffler and use the exhisting piping....3 less rusted bolts to worry about
also, i noticed that the piping to the muffler is smaller than the mid piping...is that normal?

The diameter of the Apexi N1 is 60mm or 2 3/8" od, the diameter of the stock R's catback for the most part besides the 2 bottlenecks is 2 1/4" od.
But for some odd reason I remember the b pipes for the N1 to be compatible with the stock R's axleback if that's what you are asking. I might have extremely clouded memory from all the drugs and years of alcohol abuse, and could be totally wrong with the compatibility but I remember something strange like that in the past.

You mean the stock piping at the axle portion necks down or bottlenecks? Yes this is correct, but the piping again opens up and returns to normal diameter before entering the muffler portion.
No.
