All people with Headers!!!
Ok. Before having installed my 4-1 header, my engine bay wasn't hot unless I drove a long time or raced hard, but after having it installed, I noticed my engine bay was hot as hell.
Is it cuz I removed the heat sheild? Do any of you guys have Aftermarket header installed with a Heat shield still on? Will it perform a bit better with the heat shield on or off?
I'm just a little paranoid. Heat = bad (Car wise)

mebbe stock... take the mount points off the stock headers and weld them on the new ones?? Not gonna be pretty tho. Wraps are good but they're not too pretty either. For some reason I'm running cooler (guage temp) w/o the heatshield on. Then again the car has some issues
stock header (no s
) are made out of iron (I believe) which retains heat much better than stainless steel - you can get a heat shield (suggested) and or heat wrap (I would not suggest - cause it can trap moisture and cause the header to rust quicker - yes even stainless steel) or look into a header coating (this is what I plan to do when I get my spoon header) such as Jet-Hot or Swains thermal barrier coating

The header police is at it again. There ARE people that have more than one header...as in when I receive a new header, I will have headers; one on my car, and one off my car. It is allowed, isn't it?!?

I like mine .,.... Apexi GT header with Swain Technology Ceramic coating.
Keeps temps down in the engine bay.
--->Swain Technology in Scottsville NY.
I have contact info if you want it. they are great people.

I only know of heatshields that go on the OEM honda header or exhaust manifold. I just got my JDM 4-1 header with heatshield. Looks pretty sleeper with the black valve cover too
I've heard of stories of putting a heatshield on aftermarket headers but you need to somehow make holes for the bolts to hang on to.

Try looking into modifying the Greddy heat shield that comes with their turbo kits... They were the only ones I saw so far that make aftermarket heat shields. But then again it was made for their turbos... But in all honesty, i dont know anyone who has installed an aftermarket header into their teg that has complained about melting or damaging thier engines during daily driving cuz of the header.
