f22 turbo???
i have a 91 accord w/ my stock f22a1 w/ 192,000 miles on it and i am planning to get a f22b motor and tranny(5 speed) and boost the hell out of it. now...when i do this conversion will i need the ECU for the f22b or what? how many psi can i safely run w/ intake and exhaust mods only? and please add any other tips to help...thanks alot
why get a f22b motor, its not much different, get a H22 engine. And if u plan to add a turbo then u have another problem b/c the f22's cant handle much boost at all.

you sir, have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

i think he's dead on. f series can't handle boost at all.....if you compare it to a ****** volvo block. but in the honda world, f series is about as good as a ls block is for boost, which you commonly will see 300+whp sheets in the FI forum at roughly 9-11psi, it just takes us some more boost to get there, but we can handle it. you will be fine runing 10 daily with a good tune, maybe even a bit more. just dont skimp on fuel and management, do it once and do it right.
edit, about the ecu, dont buy one, buy a standalone or i may have a tuned wot maps p28 and s200b combo i may be getting rid of if the current buyer falls out. the idle maps need a little work, but i drove on it and boosted @8lbs to school for a few weeks before i went to the standalone, got a great deal.

The f22 engine can definitely take punishment.....ive boosted from 6 to 12 psi on a bone stock engine for 6 months straight. Now i have forged pistons and i boost up to 15 psi on a T3To4E 60 trim and i even suffered a 20 psi spike and my engine is still running strong as hell!

werd - "F has trouble handling boost" and an H22 is recommended?!?! ROFLMFAO!!!

Hahah. ******* people, do some homework. Ok here's a few hints for all of you who are saying F-series suck for boost. I just copied and pasted this from another forum I posted on about this exact same subject (for reference: http://forums.torontoaccords.c...art=0 )
If you are planning on turboing, F22 is the way to go. H22 has a higher compression rate therefore limiting your boost capabilities. F22 on the other hand has a lower compression ratio, allowing for more boost. Off the top of my head I think JDM H22 is 10.6:1or 11.0:1, whereas the F22 is somewhere around 9.0:1, maybe lower, don't quote me on those numbers.
On stock internals you can run 7 or 8 PSI safely on an F22 turbo setup. On beefed up internals 12 PSI is no dream, just more money. I'd check out some websites, Turbonectics comes to mind, I know for a fact they make a F22 kit, do your research, ask some local shops, email the kit makers. People are alot more willing to help then you may think. The worse they can do is not talk to you.
This question has been asked about a bajillion times. I'm not trying to be an ***, but don't talk like you know your **** when you quite obviously do not.

yea, i had an F-22 but it wasnt the SOHC one, i wantted to boost it but i tottaled my car, now i am loking for the same car again 94 or 95 accord, but i have an offer for an H-22 for 1500$ which is a rare deal, you guys know it to, but i don't want to pass up that offer but i want to have a turboed out f-22, but i want the h-22 motor but if i get it i won't boost it, so i'm having a issue, it's just krazy

Could have been the f22b jdm dohc block
.
As for the thread starter...search, it's been covered a lot.

You can boost a higher compression motor. You just have to be much more careful. Good fuel mangagement is a necessity.

hmmm, do you guys really think he has the DOHC motor if he's asking these kinds of questions?... no he wouldn't be.
