Default Ripping up in 5th? or clutch slipping

i was driving home from work, waiting at the lights. when green i decided to drive hard. 1st took off without to much spin until 6K or so. started ripping up hard. then went second like nothing so i shifted to 3rd. ripped up for a little while rev drop from 7.5K to 6.5K. then after that. the rev went made like if it was free revving. it started free revving through every gear to fifth (not to shall if it was spinning the wheel). never happened to me before. so i let it run in no gear. until the wheel stopped spinning, i put it in 4th gear and engage like if the clutch was fine.

the condition was fully raining. i got a gsr with cai and exhaust. directional tyres.
not shall if it was clutch. foot was totally off clutch when free revving style. 60000miles with factory clutch still there.

never spun in 4th and 5th before. so what wrong

Sounds you roasted your clutch a bit! If you abuse your clutch, 60,000 is a good life span for it, and it's time to get out your checkbook

fully raining? your tires probably had no traction.

start off in first gear, driving normally. when you goto shift to 2nd, goto 5th instead. if your motor bogs down immediatly then your clutch seems to be good. if it revs a bit then bogs, your slipping.

also you can goto a big hill. put your car in 3rd gear and go up the hill. if your motor is boggy, then your fine. if not youll notice the slip.

goodluck.

btw i may have an nkk clutch, pm me if your interested. full clutch kit, brand new.

My Dad always told me to test a clutch like this -

Start the car
Put it in 5th gear
Foot on the brake
Let the clutch out slowly

The car should stall if the clutch is working properly.
If it slips and doesn't stall you right away, you're looking at a new clutch.

DUDE, I didn't read the rain part. You DO know that if you don't have traction, your RPM's will shoot straight up till redline until you let off or shift, right? If you shift hard and drop the clutch, you'll also probably induce a spin and not catch traction until you let off the gas, depending on gear. What the hell, are you serious?

Just try the cluthc test on dry pavement and see what happens. You probly should start saving for a new clutch at 60K anyways. Always good to upgrade.

Dude, it doesn't matter. You can make a Geo Metro spin its tires in the rain. If your car doesn't do this when its dry out, we're gonna all chalk this up to being gay in the rain.
