Default Hardpacks??

Anybody here have a hardpack instead of a plain old backpack?? Or are they "rice". Lol just saw some new Axio hardpacks somewhere and I like them but I almost can't justify buying a $130 backpack. Also, what are they made of?? Is it fiberglass?? Thanks guys.

How about a tankbag? You can store lots of stuff in there, too. And, it's something to lean on when you're puttering along the highway.

I'm just wondering cause I like the way they look and wondering if they can store lots of stuff. I dunno, I never really liked the look of tank bags, maybe they'll just have to grow on me.

There are tankbags out there that look like those hardpacks/shells. As long as it carries your stuff, don't sweat it.

I use a gray/black Dakine Interval backpack. Its designed for surfers so there's a large compartment thats completely waterproof (perfect to carry things that may leak, or to keeps things dry while raining), a small section on top w/soft lining for a pair of sunglasses, a insulated pouch on side for wax (I use it to keep my drink cold or to keep a sandwich in), and another large compartment for regular use, a pouch on front for misc small items, and a secondary larger section for keys (there's a key clip in there), pens, cell phone, etc.

The best part is the med-thick padding on the back so things in it don't poke at you while you're riding, and the chest strap so that the bag stays in place while you squirm.

Good deal for $55 bucks

My buddy has one of those Dakine surf bags, we surf all the time and all his crap fits in that bag. He uses the same for when he rides.

I am not so sure I would want a hard plastic shell on my back in the event of an accident. It may be a silly paranoia but the idea seems wrong to me.

I've got one of these:

Not the most stylish bag in the world, but it comes with a padded case for a laptop that is secured with straps once it's put in the bag. It has a cross strap for the shoulders and a waist strap and it doesn't move once it's on. It also holds a ton of stuff and it's waterproof, the flaps over the zippers are a must.

This one looks cooler:
