Default headers on a 97 accord se???? What will happen to the engine.....

I had bought a hole exaust system for my accord.... headers, full exaust system.... I was told that the cat-back exaust would be fine but adding the headers would cause my engine to run crappy, and I would have nothin but problems with my total car performance because of the car was mad to have a low emissions.... I called DC Sports, and they said the same thing.... I was hoping someone has been successful at doing this.... just want some feed back on this topic because I would like to put headers on....

man.....that's funny cuz i'm currently running a 94 accord Ex with Dc 4-2-1 ceramic headers with my welded custom catback to my HP dual output muffler and that this forreal is badass man....u can feel performance...it'll give ur vtec a little kick and will enhance ur exhaust sound....it roars man...pretty good.....i like my headers....

I have never heard that before, but everyone I know with an accord running headers has never had any problems, but none of them were SE's. But, if DC sports said that it could cause problems u might want to take that seriously.

If it's an F22 motor like any other Accord (except the V6s), and I'm sure it is, you're fine.

you probably asked DC if your non-DC header would be good for your car, and they said NO!

if your headers were DC then i'm sorry.

hehhehehehhe,,,,,,,,

I have 97 Accord EX,,, F22,, probably same motor as yours brdr1999.

Have been running DC sports Ceramic 4-2-1 headers into Random Tech hi flow cat and greddy sp exhaust since spring 01.

It runs fine. Even better than stock!!

Also have an AEM cai and AEM pulleys. I passed a MA emissions test in July with all this stuff installed.

What kind of headers did you get?? On the DC sports 4-2-1 the O2 sensor mounts under the car, behind the oil pan,,, not under the hood. This is where it mounts on the stock headers as well.

While you are at it you might as well get a new O2 sensor.

It better run better than stock, ****, what's the point of adding an aftermarket part if it's going to be the same or be worse?

he he heh,,,,

Yeah I know.

I was being sarcastic cause I thought it was odd that the guy who started the thread was getting told that headers would f up his performance.

But from what I have been told,,,,,,, and experienced,,,, the dc 4-2-1 is really a small bang for the buck. It looks good,,, but I think the pipes have the same diameter as the stock ones. Stock is cast iron and all rusty though.

And now I am thinking about a turbo in the spring so I will have to take the headers off anyway.

Well I mean welcome to the world of import performance, spend a lot of money, and get minimal gains.
