Repaint my car
Currently my car is flamenco black pearl and I want to get new paint on my car. Would it be more expensive to change the color to white instead of repainting it black? ...Is it alot more work? Mind you, I don't care about the door jambs or the engine bay. Since it's black, it won't bother me if the rest of the car is white.
Thanks.
Thanks.
uh yea. the white will "appear" to be darker because of the black.
example, if you ask any painter/prepper about when they paint say a white car to blue, they usually use a dark primer/sealer and it's recommended they spray one coat of black to cover the car before spraying the actual new color.
may i ask, why you would want white?

Painting a car can go many ways. You can get it extremely cheap, or extremely expensive.
Skipping your door jams and engine bay will help you with the price a lot, but you still have to worry about what kind of quality you want.
You can still literally get a Maaco job for like $200 or you can get a VERY good job for like $5K. It all depends.

i was afraid of the white appearing darker because of the underlying paint. but aren't there any light color primers also? light gray i've seen.
i want white because i've always liked the look of a white integra... not cw though. meh.. i was even thinking of painting it possibly blue like the rsx. that'll probably be an easier job.
black is very hard to keep clean. even after wash and wax, little specks of dust will annoy the hell out of me. especially after spending 3-4 hours on detailing.
i'm probably looking to do all the prep work myself and let my dad spray the paint on. he's been doing body work for 20 years and is a certified journeyman. i don't want to ask him because he's lazy and he'll be like "just ******* leave the same color on..."
i have only rust on the hood and front fenders from stone chips... very very small spots. the only hard part is that i do have a few dings...

you're white won't appear to be darker. If done properly, the painter will spray a white Sealer that will cover the original paint (after properly sanded)...then the painter will spray the 3-4 coats of white, which will fully cover the sealer and will look just as white as you want it.
white is a cheap color, i can vouch for that. most dark colors are metallics or have pearls in them, which can get expensive. you can get a lighter colored sealer/primer. also, not many painters actually spray 3-4 coats of base coat.
