ok i got a 94 eg with a b18b n i been runnin 5w30 synthetic mobil 1 but someone said to me today to try out the 0w30 that is was better for my car ... any ideas ... will it damage... any other oils that are better gimme some help here guys .. i wan the best for my motor!!

 

Run what's recomended in the manual. I do run 0W-30 Castrol Syn in my motor, but only if it's the Group IV oil that's made in Germany. It's a pure synthetic, not like the US made and Mobil 1 group III oils, and it's got a higher viscosity than a US 0-30. If I can't find that, I use 5W30 Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1.

at least someone actually answered one of my many questions...... where do you get your oil and what is it called ?

 

i use castrol syntec synthetic blend on my LS... i think its kinda overkill for the LS to use full synthetic unless its a built motor

 

I run 0W-30 Castrol Syntec with the red label that says 'Made in Germany' on the back of the bottle; NOT the one with the yellow lable. It's a true full synthetic, made to German specs. I can usually find it in AutoZone or Advance. If I can't find it, I'll run Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 in 5W30. I prefer the Castrol, because for some reason my top end is a little noisier with Mobil 1.

The Castrol and Mobil 1 synthetics produced in this country are no longer a 'true' synthetic, because of some loophole in the wording of the designation. I think it has something to do with certain organic compounds being able to be used if they are refined a certain amount. You can even see the difference; the German stuff has a green color to it almost like anti-freeze.
