J = assembled in japan, as well as manufactured, but in US-specs that is...so you have a partial jdm car lol..none of that "Honda of America" badge crap...**** i hate that tag. Search on google for 'honda vin explanation' or something...sorry im a nerd to that kind of ****

Can't find a site with information for an '03 (or a '73) model, thus I'm not sure what the MEG1 means.

01-03 = Manufacturer, Make and type of vehicle (i.e. "JHM" = Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Honda, Passenger Car
04-06 = Model line & Engine type (i.e. "eg6" = EG6 *g*)
07 = Body & transmission type (i.e. "1" = 2dr, Coupe, M/T etc.)
08 = Equipment trim level (i.e. "4" = Civic DX, Accord LX or Convertible at S2k)
09 = Checkdigit
10 = Year (only 2003+, i.e. "3" for 2003)
11 = Plant (models older than 2003 charakter 10+11) (i.e. "S" or "PS" = Suzuka, "A" or "PA" = Marysville, Ohio etc.)
12-17 = Sequential production number
*only position 12 is an exeption, but I only know this about it:
- vehicles produced in England for sale in the US begin with 3
- vehicles produced in Canada for sale in the US begin with 5
- vehicles produced in Mexico for sale in the US begin with 7
This is only sure for 2003+ models I guess, but in principle almost the same for older cars.
