d series alt on a b series engine? is it possible?
i believe they said it could be done but i doubt it will work because the d series produces less amps than your b series does

You sure about that now??? That does not make sense..what electrial device is there on a b-series engine that requires more amps than a D?

I know that you can put a B series alternator on a D series engine. You have to tap the adjustment bolt hole and make the adjusting bracket groove a little wider. Takes 15 minutes with a Dremel. So I assume a d series alt. on a b series can be done with some minor fabrication.
A d series alt is 70 amps
A B16 alt. is 80 amps
A b18c1 alt. is 90 amps
