1.5 Vtec
Yeah you can either do a mini-me which is putting a d-series vtec head on your nonvtec block and wire up vtec or you could just swap the whole motor out for a vtec motor..but that would be stupid seeing that your motor only has 5k miles on it..so I think you'd be better off with a mini-mi set-up..
Search mini me in the archives..there was a huge write-up on it....
or better yet look at the FAQ thread at the top of the page..there's a shitload of links ..

dude search for "mini me" in this forum, theres like 400 posts about it.
make sure 'archived content' is checked off
you will need a complete vtec head, and the ecu that goes with that engine. since d series vtecs are obd1, youll need to convert the car to odb1 as well. you can run it obd0 with some sort of switch to turn on the vtec, but it wont adjust the fuel map, so the motor wont last like it should.
so in conclusion, you need a d series vtec head complete and ecu, and a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness.
also search for mini me as there are people who know MUCH more then me about this subject, i hope i helped a bit.
if the motor is freshly rebuilt, why not consider working with it instead, does it have MPFI? you could just add the other 2 injectors and a new manifold, then get a lot of bolt ons, and see what kind of performance you can get with what you already have, since the cheapest engine for your car is always the one you already have.
many would say vtec isnt always the best for everyone....
