you won't even pass inspection with the breather, you have to hook it up to your intake. no oil catch cans allowed.
and the jdm itr b-pipe has a resonator
not sure about passing though, jdm cat is very short

but i heard from my friend of mine that as long as u have cat on and sensor hooked up u ready to go.... but vision test they wont even touch it, they say its modified and turn u down rite then... i cant really tell who to believe.. unless some have the same set up like mine...
If you just have to go for a standard smog check, the reason so many people have different stories, is cause all the shops are different. Some check close, others don't.
being a 96 car, you will have to pass to OBD2 standards, meaning an ECU check threw the OBD2 port, visual, and tailpipe sniffer. If the JDM cat isn't built to OBD2 smog standards, you might not pass the tailpipe.
When switching from OBD1 to OBD2 the cats just scrubbed more NOX from the exhaust.
