I'm getting the shakes. Dammit.
Well, I thought I was ready to take a few months off, but its already not working. I've started thinking about racing again, damned near constantly.
Watching video tapes. Rearranging the trophy wall.
And yes, I've started fiddling with the car. There's nothing major to be done this winter, and it can pretty much be done in one weekend, but I've started fiddling anyway.
Dammit.
Dammit dammit dammit.
Friggin crack habit. I hate it.
There's an autocross this weekend, last one of the year. We're going, but I already know that isn't going to cut it. It'll likely just make it worse. Like eating half a potato chip.

That sucks. I usually always try to find something to fix before winter gets here. I found my specimin this year. 94 EG. Bout to get some serious surjery(sp?).

<--- building a car, needs to be ready by March, front clip is 60 feet away from the body and the engine's in boxes...
Then again, ordering stuff keeps me tweaked.
All pissing contests aside, I sympathize.

Yep.. at least I am not alone.
Three weeks ago I was leaving an autocross and was thinking I was going to enjoy some itme over the winter to relax.
Then I saw a Malibu Grand Prix in Dallas and couldn't stay away... and now.. I just want to autocross or roadrace, or something..
At least I get to do that this weekend (Florence, SC: RJ.. come on over)
I dont know how I am going to go till January.

5 Months?! Jesus. Rally 04 ended 2 weeks ago, and I'm already looking to do a Rallycross in mid-January. NASA Rally East season opener is the 22nd.

****.. It's like Thursday before a race weekend over here. Been under the car the last three nights trying to reconfigure the exhaust system before this Saturday morning's Dyno sessions in Kent. Version 3.0 is currently on the car with clamps. That should at least get me through Saturday okay.

Oh God, me too but I think I've hit rock bottom...
- Finances tell me not to
- Selling a very good car for next to nothing tells me not to
- Potentially being out of racing for a couple of months during the season tells me not to
- BUT, the thought of building a unproven car with the hope of it being a good decision has overcome me. ...and I've started to build the car without even selling my CRX yet.
I too, am a Racing Addict!

I'm just kickin' it munching on peppered beef jerkey. What's the rush?
Sheesh, uppity Gee-orgians. (With their ARRCA and their late winters and their slo-gin...)
Greg ~ who has a May season start to look forward to... why fight it?

You know, I was over this crazy habit just over a year ago. Then, Phat and I had the race of a lifetime at the ARRC. Ok, that is cool, I looked forward to racing again. Then 2 great races in July, and another incredible ARRC, and now I am trying to figure out how to race a full season again.
I really thought I was over it. I thought running 2 or 3 events a year was going to be the perfect amount for me.
sigh......

you're getting the shakes? I haven't been on track for a couple years now, and I am spending every evening in the garage, working on the car - much to Misses MadFrogette's delight!
People at work think I am a little off. I had a stack of Hoosiers sitting in my office (stinking like hell) for a week as I was waiting for the wheels to come in. I get various size packages several times a week. Today I received this strange briefcase-looking thing that said: "Isaac. For the Head worth keeping" I got a few looks for that one
Or maybe the look was for the maniacal grin on my face.
So yeah, I'm shaking. In anticipation, frustration, and nerves. That and my hands are now constantly grease stained, scratched, and bruised.
Damn I can't wait to get on track. What's the weather like in Savannah in february, anyway?

I notice that when I'm away from home for work for a few weeks... my hands dont look like I had a fight with a oil-filled food processor.
Funny how that works. Hurry up seabass!

I haven't autocrossed since the 4th of July. I did alot of spectating between then and September, discovered how much I let my social life suck by always racing, and then I turned 21.
Hopefully I'll be back running again in April, and there's always indoor karting down in Columbus if I can actually afford it.

I think thats the root of the problem. That weekend went very very well. The racing was great and I drove better than I ever have. Now... I get to rest on that for a few months.
Better then ending on a bad weekend I guess, but at least a bad weekend doesn't leave you craving more.
Hell man, I wanted to run another ARRC sprint by the time we left the tech shed.

This is the first winter in about 5 years that I'm NOT doing that. The car is fine, and there's really nothing I can do to it that won't move it to another class, so it just gets some in depth maintenance stuff and thats it.
Thats a good thing really, but the thing I keep doing where I go out into the garage and look at it wondering "Hmmmm... What can I do to it?" is just plain dangerous.

Fairly unpredictable. Typically some rain. Maybe cold, maybe warm. About the only sure bet is no snow. It doesn't ever really snow in Savannah.

Bit of both really. Cold in the morning somewhere in the high 30s. With some sun it will warm up nicely by mid day. The big suck is cold wind and rain.
I have been to RRR in both Jan and Feb. Both can be nice or you will be soaked to the bone.

We're pulling the diff next weekend (Dec 18-19) if you're really hard up for some "working on the car" time...
Bowie - Any tricks/suggestions, besides being sure to mark the driveshaft?

Undo the top suspension bolt AFTER you have undone the 4 nuts holding each halfshaft to the diff. This allows you to swing the halfshafts out of the way when you are raising and lowering the diff.
Remember that you have to undo the 2 little nuts on the diff bushings before undoing the 17mm nuts to actually drop the diff.
If you get good at it, you can do a whole swap with no help in around an hour.
