How do you repair wiring inside of a connector
How does one go about pulling out the metal pieces inside a connector. I'm trying to just replace the wires, since they are loose and cut way short. The metal things inside rattle. I've gotta hang on to the connector. Thanks
It depends on the connector, they all dis-assemble but there are several diferent styles. For instance, the connectors at the ECU, the connectors at the main engine harness and the big interior connectors. I know pretty much how to take appart all of them but describing the process in a step-by-step way that makes sense would be difficult.
In a nutshell, all of the connectors have some piece that locks the pins in place, for the engine harness connectors that piece is in the end of the connector surrounding the pins and you can simply pull it out using a pair of needle nose pliers. For the interor connectors, the locking piece is on the side of the connector (usually white plastic) and you need to pry it up slightly with a very small flat head screw driver. The ECU pins are a bitch but the process has been posted on HT many times (my myself and others) do a search on "removing ECU pins"
Ah, Here you go. Just found this
