Just Got a 2001 Integra Type R - What should I get first?
Here is the best suggestion that I and alot of other HT members can think of.
NOTHING!
Thats right don't do a thing to it. You now have one of the best handeling most potent import perfomance cars available right out of the box and in your hot little hands.
You want to really do something that will improve your R's performance?
Save your money and go to a performance driving school/class and really learn the correct way to drive your new found R. The key to an R performing better is teaching the driver to drive better.
Or and or hit up a bunch of Autocrosses and begin to master the art of performance driving.
Now you may say "I know how to drive and I've been driving well so far," But, ya know what? You don't and you haven't, no offense and this is NOT a flame answer to your post.
Take time to learn your cars natural neutral handeling characteristics and abilities. Become one with it and be able to think ahead and anticipate it's behavior during all sorts of different situations. The Integra Type-R came so perfectly balanced from Honda that the driver needs to learn to totally appreciate it before he or she can or is able to know exactly what they may want to change to perform differently or better.
And, you should do yourself a favor and use the SEARCH function before you get mauled here in the R forum.
Good luck, I'll help you any way I can.
Oh and Welcome to the brotherhood that is owning one of the best performing road legal race cars available. We are a dying breed!

Comptech Icebox intake with Comptech foam filter, forget the chrome elbow no performance gain there. For the money get a DC Sport JDM stainless steel 4-1 header with a Carsound highflow cat. part #94006. On the cat. back you're on your own, there are to many variables on sound and performance, but I would go with 60mm/2-5" pipe, a rear strut bar, and maybe some wider tires when your current tires are toast. That should get you started. OH! I almost forgot "Driving lessons". Hope I answered your question.
Yeah.. learn to drive better is a really good answer..
but if you just aching to spend $$, get some Falken Azenis, Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and some Brake pads..
I will mod my R on our 1 year anniversary...(after 20K miles of driving it)..
so far, I am happy with it. 158WHP@Mustang Dyno.. Bone Stock, so my R is fine.
but the problem is with me.. I don't drive as well as some GSR owners..
and I have no $$ to attend driving school... the next autoX here is in April (I think).

When I look into the classifieds everywhere, for some reason, an ITR advertised as "bone stock" sounds more appealling than a modded one (e.g. 17" rims, no wing, etc.).
Modify it if you want to I say!
Modifying cars is a hobby .....99% would agree the ITR is awesome as is but will also have a view to change something. Just don't put a NOS kit on it etc!
I just got ITR mine too! A CD player will be my first mod.

The first thing you need to get is a good alarm professionally installed...

JDM 4-1 Header. It's the best bang for the buck mod and it's a honda part. Bump timing and switch out stock air filter for a K&N or comptech.

First thing I'd do? Rip out the resonator (free)
Install new header with test pipe
Change brake fluid to Motul 600
Enjoy for a bit. It's a great car!

yes seriously get to know your car before you do anything but if you are get an intake first(personal opinion) you will enjoy the sound and the performance gain
