Default Brake Light Problem

Went to change the bulb on my third brake light today and after doing so, went to test it out.

Stepped on the brake pedal and no brake lights come on.

Turned on headlights... rear taillights and reverse works but still no brake lights.

Checked for voltage at the plugs and got 0 volts when pedal is depressed and headlights are off.

what the hell? they were working right before the bulb change. what might have caused this??

Default Re: Brake Light Problem (Beach Accord)

fixed it....

referred to helm manual section 11-109

press brake pedal...do lights come on?

yes go to step 3
no go to step 4

went to step 4

inspect the STOP (20amp) fuse in the under hood fuse\relay box.

is the fuse ok?
yes-repair the open in the wire between the brake pedal position switch and the STOP (20amp) fuse. inspect the brake pedal position switch.
no- repair the short in the wire between the ECM\PCM and the STOP (20amp) fuse. Replace the STOP (20amp) Fuse.

mine was obviously no.

all i did however was replace the fuse...im hoping it was just a random cause i dont enjoy tracking down shorts.

any thoughts as to why the fuse suddenly blew?

i've 68K on the car.....

The same thing happened to me once. The driver's side brake light went out after I replaced it none of the brake lights worked. Like you, the fuse blew. Replaced the fuse and it was fine. That was about 10 months ago.

make sure ur brake lights always work kuz i got a ticket once i had to play dumb..

the brake lights wouldnt light, there wasnt no signel to turn them on when i pressed the brake pedal, but the back lights worked

it ended up to be the brake pedal switch under the dashboard, i had to take it out and open it, it had grown black and green mold inside, cleaned it out and everything worked fine after that.

i got a ticket kuz i was stoping at stop sign and i waited 3 seconds then took off, but the cop pulled me over anyways said i ran the stop sign, i just said i didnt see it kuz the road was pitch dark, so i got away with it..lucky but he still gave me a suction for not having my insurence card on me..dumb me i had tooken it out to clean my car and forgot to put it back in.
