Integra....Idea's on next buy ???
As of right now i have a 99 integra, you can click in my Sig (pictures and more, b/c im selling it) anyway, i do adore honda/acura but i would really like to get something All wheel drive so i can feel a little safer in the winter. I live in wisconsin so we get winter, sometimes its not till January but it comes, and sticks around till april...
Anyway, i have cars in the back of my head on what i would love to get, and what i could poss afford to get after the car is sold. "if it sells" I would love a 2000+ WRX turbo but i just dont think i can fork over $15,000 on something like that. So i thought about it and i was in one of my friends Audi A4 it wasnt a quattro but i made me think, i really like the inside of the car... Nice style and room, and im sure the Quattro would be a lot of fun. Chip it and go crazy. Im thinking of years 1996-2000 or so, just b/c i would really like to get a Motor cycle for the summer and then also a car to drive in winter but also when i need to have another person with me or carry something.
Im wondering what people think. Do you think an A4Q is a good choice or can you suggest something in my price range of like $7500, that i can look into. Does anyone have experiance with any Audi's ?
The Teg isnt going to sell this winter but come spring i hope it does. Im sure the market will be better to sell it. Im open to comments, suggestions, and questions or anything. Help me out.

The only experience I have with Audi's is the high price of maintence. Example, if you had to do a timing belt, this wouldn't be a DIY job - I've seen it.
They're difficult to work on, expensive parts, and in my opinion, overpriced for what you get. This is just my opinion though, and the decision is up to you, but if it were me, I'd stick with good old Honda.

Well i just talked to one of my friends today and he is buying a 2002 WRX after his outback took a sh*t on him a few weeks ago. But he said that his family has always bought Audi. His dad used to own a 1991, audi 2000 and he said it was a rocket. And right now he currently has an A8, and his mom drives an All-Road.... Ahh must be nice.
He said they are quality cars, they can be expensive to fix but hey most cars are. Also he said to stay away from 1996 and below years. Other than that he said they are awesome cars, they have Zip and good looks.
Anyone else have any imput on this ?

you probably wont like my opinion. im completely prejudice against subarus and audis. i just hate the way they look. i dont even bother reading technical stats on them. ****** aforementioned cars. seriously though dude stick with the teg. i dont think your uh, drivetrain?, should have an effect on your peace of mind. it should be all about your skill in adverse weather conditions. before i got my teg i was dead set on getting either 4wd or rear wheel. but i cut that **** out when i got offered a well maintained gs-r for 5k. plus there are several other 4wd cars i can think of that are badass. lan-evo, gto, old celicas... and some others im sure im forgetting.
My advice is not to sell your baby to buy a bike. Trust me, I did this just this past summer... I sold my car that I had and babied for 3 years, took much less for it than I wanted to because I wanted a bike so bad, got the bike, had it stolen from me, then I had NOTHING. Insurance gave me some money for it, so I went out and bought my Acura... so I guess that's the only good part. I advise you to keep your car and save for the bike, or you'll regret it later.
Subaru, besides Mitsubishi makes the LEAST reliable cars I've ever seen. Audi's arent very reliable either, and are way to overpriced for what you get. IF I were in your situation, I would keep the teg, cuz you shouldn't be driving dangerous in the winter anyways.

Subaru has an extreamly high rate of problems with them when you get into the higher miles, same with audi according to my buddy at the mech shop. Keep the bullet proof car youhave now and save for the bike
I think IMO, you should stick to your teg. I don't see any early 90's Audi around. But, I seen many early 90' Integras around. There are 88' still around, hell there is a 88' in the front of my house that never stays in the same parking spot. My 91' made it across country with out ANY problems. Just a old change in between. Really, it is up to up to decide.
I had a 97 Subaru Legacy GT last winter while my teg was stored in a garage. It had 109k miles and it had problem after problem. As soon as winter was over, I sold the car.
here we go. I own both, an audi and integra. FIrst my teg got stolen, and i figured ill leave the scene, keep a clean record, and get a nice audi.well not to long after i was dying to hav emy integra back so i went ahead and bought a project integra. Audi is nice but I know cost of parts and labor is high so you dont want to beat on it so its not as much fun to drive. I guarantee the same thing will happen to you and your guna want your teg back. And I wouldnt chip the Audi your askin for problems. Thats why I got the 2.8 quattro to just chill have fun in the snow and its more reliable. And so far I haven't had any problems with the car knock on wood. However my friend has been having problems with his 00 A4 1.8t lately, and in fact hes getting a new engine from audi as we speak.
If you want to abuse a car I wouldn't recomend an audi. Or a wrx due to their tranny problems. My audi is just about at 100k miles and still giong strong.

In Kitchener, I see old 4000's, 5000's, 100/200's and 90's around all the time.
My friend Aleks and his family will stand behind Audi for as long as they live. They have had good experiences with them. When his parents came to Canada in '86, they bought a brand new Audi 5000, still have it to this day as the family daily driver with 830,000kms so far...no joke, very little rust too. Aleks has a 1991 Audi 100 with 550,000kms on it, still going despite problems. His sister has a 1991 Audi 200 Turbo Quattro, it's a solid car.
Audi has a proven track record for building cars that stand up to the elements body wise...
Even still, I would stand behind Honda before any other car. I sold my 1992 Integra for an almost new Saturn SL2, I missed the Teg right away. Now guess what I'm back to... Honda/Acura. I'm just sharing experiences here though, I'm not trying to seem like an ***.

WRX motors can't "hold compression." Right. The WRX motor is strong, as long as you're not stupid with the mods (ie. 2004 no cats w/o ecu flash).
You can't prove anything by showing 2 examples. Cobb has done 1000s of reflashes and have had 2 motors blow (last I checked). I think that in itself proves that the motor is strong and capable of holding well above stock levels.

i agree with most of the people on here...if u dont have a very good reason to sell your Integra, then dont. I plan on getting an Audi A4 or Saab 9-3 for my next car, but this will not happen until I'm ready to sell my Integra. especially if u want to get a bike, stick with what you have and just worry about getting enough money for the bike. dont take the chance of getting a car and then regretting it because your Integra was good to you.

Is the GTI all wheel drive ? ( i dont think it is it ?) thats why i wanted the quattro, but i'll prob look for the 1.8T not the 2.0 b/c they are harder to Mod. ( Im not going to do many mods just high class mods )

The R32 is AWD. Stock vs stock, it'll kick the GTI's a$$. The R32 is the only VW I really like.

Yeah, and Ive also heard people swear on their mothers lives that DSM's are the most reliable cars out there, and you also have a WRX. If i owned a car that people were bashing, I would also try to fight for it to hide my guilt of making a STUPID purchase. Dont be Colonel Mustard, get a clue
the R32 is awesome but its also $28,000 or so stock which is about $20,000 more than i dont i have. So thats why i suggested a 96+ Audi Q. b/c they are around $5-8K
You say you want to feel SAFE. AWD will hardly buy you any safety. It won't stop or turn any better than a regular car. Go get a good set of snow tires, whether they are Nokian studded or one of the Microcell type such as the Blizzaks. Using a Miata with Blizzaks, I was blowing past stuck SUVs on the hills around here. Using a Subaru Legacy with Blizzaks rarely caused the AWD to engage. Tires are everything.
Tire rack sells a set of Blizzaks on steelies for our cars for fairly cheap.
AWD=extra stuff to break and maintain.
If you are looking for an excuse a different car, so be it.
$420 for a brand new set of tires mounted on steelies and you will be getting around just fine. Then the only problem is dodging the idiots with AWD/4x4 sliding around.

agree, get good snow tires, practice cautious driving and call it a day. it is just my opinion, but i wouldn't want to go from a 99 to a 96 model year. i have a friend who has a 2000 a4 quatro, he too sold his teg for it and regrets everyday he has to drive. the car has a serious turbo lag feel, he has replaced cv joints, the cvt tranny, his entire electrical system and the rear axles. the car has never been wrecked and only has 67,000 on it. hey it is your deal though i would consider the vw, my good buddy has one and they are screamers, the a4 his a pretty car with a nice interior but i beg of you to please keep the teg, hey maybe get crazy and put a crv all wheel drive system on it, either way good luck
