Royal Purple 20w 50 too heavy for Florida.
I was wondering if 20w 50 was too heavy. I live in florida where it is hot as hell and the humidity almost makes your car bog. It never gets below 40 and winter lasts 2 maybe 3 months. My car is a daily driver and I push it hard from time to time. Any suggestions?

a 50W is way too heavy for non-track conditions. If it was for a full on race, it might make sense, but an oil that heavy will kill your power, mpg, and might damage your engine.
go with a 10w30 and you should be fine. if you're looking for a little more protection in really extreme, severe conditions, MAYBE a 0w40 or 5w40.

run 5w30, you run unleaded because it calls for it, right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
actually, it specifies for 5w30 for climates with temps below freezing, but also says that 10w30 is also acceptable if the temps are like they are florida.

To 00ludelover's unleaded comment, your manual also calls for 91 octane but you run 93 because your car runs better dont you ( if you dont then buy a kia). I was just looking for max performance concerning oil, not emmisions or mpg or any of that crap that the manual is interested in. Bad-monkey at least looked into what I asked.
nah, i run 93 octane, because it makes me feel better about myself...i dunno, just something about super premium that makes me happy.
And yeah, my bad, bad-monkey, it can use 10w30 too, either way i think 20w50 is too viscous.
