ecu code 9 CYP question

ecu code 9 CYP question
ecu's throwin a code 9. i now know that's for the cyp (cylinder sensor) and that it can be fixed by replacing the dizzy. could the ecu be throwing the code because my timing is off though? dad suggested it so i thought i'd toss it out there and see if maybe he's right. (he tends to be, so, for once, i'll at least check out his way)
