instead of spending the money on the b20, i would use that money and get your b18c block bored to 81.5 or 82mm and get aftermarket pistons.

Do that and you will probably crack the sleves if you up the compression

how could "b18c block bored over to 82mm" be confused with b20?

I would build up the gsr block instead of getting the b20 block unless your sleeving the b20 because the b20 has the weakest sleeves in it and can crack easily. But the cheaper route would be build up the gsr block beacuse you don't have to sleeve a vtec block unless your running real high compression like 13:1 or
high boost like 20-25psi. The good advantage to vtec blocks are that they have oil
squirters in each of the cylinders to help cool them down under extreme pressure.
Hopefully this will help you out.

i run a B20, and the only reason im worried about the walls cracking, is because of the people that i talk to online. I ran 12k on it in just about a year, no problems.

I would love a built GSR but if you only have about $500 to spend on the block, a B20 would be my first choice. $500-700 for a longblock B20B is a pretty good deal to me. If you got the money, just build the GSR...i would, just for the high rev.

b20b is low compression. how low... 8:8 with stock head or ls head, not sure what it would be with a vtec head on it. b20z has a higher compression.

im boosting a b20b stright up and no cracked sleeves yet. i guess its just the b20z that seem to be cracking. maybe its because of the compression...piston.
