Default Programming 2000 Honda accord key

I lost one of my master keys and bought a new blank from Honda. Can I have this blank cut and program it myself. I do have one master and one valet key. Fords allow you to do this yourself with a simple procedure with the old keys and the ignition switch. Can anyone tell me that procedure for a Honda?

There's no procedure that you can do yourself, though it should be way less than $90. My local dealer was quoting ~ $20 to $25 for a key, with extras being just the cost of the blank if they are made at the same time.

Or, go to a locksmith. I was just reading a flyer from a locksmith and in it they were saying that if you have two keys, it is easy for them to make a duplicate for cars like Hondas. Note that the chip in the valet key and the master key are the same, else your car wouldn't start with the valet key. They are just cut slightly differently so that the trunk lock doesn't recognize the valet key.
