Examine this dyno chart please!!! chart is breaking up
Car dyno'd- 98 Dodge Neon 2.0L DOHC w/130k miles running Mobil1 and 92oct.
Mods- Mopar PCM, S-AFCII, UDP, Tri-y header 1 7/8" primaries, 52mm tb, intake, and intake manifold.
The dyno is comparing the stock intake manifold to the one i made for it. No internal mods done to it just bolt ons.
What I can't figure out is the break up up top? The only thing I can think of is ignition issues...but we changed the plugs and regapped them at .033(what the factory recommends), it has aftermarket wires...but it also has the stock coil pack(neons are distributorless)
So...what I plan to do is change the coil pack, the wires, and then dyno and close the gap on the plugs to see if it changes. Any other ideas?

got any pics of the setup, intake mani? ever heard of a INDY intake mani? my boy has similar setup w/ the mopar pcm, it has all pulleys, cam gears, possible cams, indy intake mani, aem intake, msd ignition, header. he doesnt know how much hp his got yet, we are gonna goto the dyno soon. he just bought the car with all the mods on the car.
why is it breaking up in the top end? looks like detonation to me......you can see the air fuel ratio really leaning out up top which would cause lots of heat in the cylinders which leads to dentonation......especially in the upper RPM range you want more fuel. try to get the air/fuel ratio just under 13:1 and it should be alright...
good luck......not bad power for a neon.....

This is the intake manifold I make for neons... To be unbiased as all hell...the INDY really doesn't make near as much power with all the dyno's i've seen. I'm going to dyno a couple more designs for my intake manifolds, and then stick with the best combo. I'll be sure to put up the dyno's of INDY, BDMS, and Fastfabs intake vs mine. All the runs will be done on this neon after we put the built head on. So it will settle all of the debates once and for all.

its actually too rich on top ... thats why its sluggish/breaking up.

with 13.5:1 being the LEANEST it gets Im not sure. the chart starts to break up around 4k... on both graphs. It didn't ping, and no detotanation could be heard thru all 14 of the runs. (granted you cant hear all detonation) but if it was significant to throw the power like that...i think it would be audible.
btw the intake we put on was not ported at all...just the plenum welded to the runners. The usual race manifold is ported and radiused mmmm

Get a OBD-2 logger and watch the timing and knock sensor to see if the ecu is pulling timing. The data logger was really helpful in tuning my turbo neon. Also how much do you get for your manifold??
Do you have pics of it installed on the car.
Also where did they pick up the ignition signal from? The spark plug wires or the wires going to the coilpack? I notice the smothing factor was on 5.

wow Im ******* retarded. haah I have an DRB-III sitting at home...might as well use it!!!! There's a GB for the manifolds on neons.org right now and the race version is going for 350. Usually they are 450. ignition pick up was from the spark plug wire.
I have an LM-1 but im still waiting on the aux box and pick up to get here :-(

Next time take the signal from the coilpack wires the three that connect to the coil pack. It will work on two of those wires. Some times the plug wires give a bad signal. The DRB works good too. Good luck
Whens that group Buy over?

the three wires that go to the coil pack are 5v, signal, and ground. So they shouldn't work at all.
GB ends on the 18th. of Dec.
