who ACTUALLY has a turboed hx d16y5?
this topic is simple... there is a lot of misguiding information on how to turbo a d16y5 motor. some people say it is easy, others say it is impossible.
what i want to know is who actually has a working, turbo d16y5 and what does your setup consist of?
i have searched and read and all the info i can see is from people who either are interested in turboing their y5 soon, or people who no a guy, who has a friend with an hx-t, but don't know the exact details of the setup.

I could be on crack, but there shouldn't be much of a difference between turboing any d16 motor. you need turbo+manifold+fuel+fuel management and you're ready to go...? I guess I don't see why this is so hard. There is more information on turboing Honda engines on the net than I could read in my lifetime. as others have said http://www.turbod16.com and http://www.homemadeturbo.com

This is correct. A D series is a D series. Sure the different models have some differences but they are basically the same. I bought a 92-95 kit and it bolted up perfect. Put the DSM 450's in, hooked up the s-afc, hacked that **** and off I went. I did some research but bolting up a turbo is pretty self explanatory. I laid out all the pieces and fugired it out. The hardest part (for me) was taking the stock **** off because of not having the right tools. I never finished upating that Y5 turbo project thread. Got kinda busy. I have snce soild my turbo kit but I planned on turboing it again at the beginning of 2005 once I get some bills paid off. I may update the thread then or start a new one

I have turboed a y5 motor fro my friend, and using uberdata ems , tuned the fuel and have vtec on at 3,000 rpm around spool time so it can open the other valves.
any d series setup will work. the only external differances are the y5 has a 5 wire o2. i put a z6 greedy kit on a 96 hx the only mod i had to make was to the intercooler pipe to the throttle body were the a/c lines run. same shizo
