New SpeedTV World Challenge class??
Does anyone have info on the Touring 3 class in SpeedTV World Challenge? I was surfing the SCCA website and there is a quick blurb about a Touring3 class mentioned within the SportsCar Magazine.

It's not part of the World Challenge AFAIK.
It is an additional class, similar to the current SCCA Club Racing Touring 1 and 2 classes. Should be same rules as T1 and T2, but with slightly slower cars. The ITR would be a good fit, although they have yet to move it down from T2.
SCCA was also discussing creating a place in Club Racing for ex-WC Touring cars. AFAIK, nothing has been made official for this.

In the touring classes they allow some mods that aren't allowed in Showroom Stock like aftermarket wheels and braided steel brake lines. T3 would be faster than SSB but slower than T2. For example, I heard they are thinking about moving the Honda S2000 and Acura Integra Type-R down from T2 and the BMW Z4 up from SSB.

So it seems SCCA is listening to us who buy tickets afterall.???
I had posted in another thread that the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), has a great format.
Does anyone feel they are trying to emulate this popular series?
In the BTCC, there are factory works cars with privateers mixed in the top class.
The support series, the production class is similar to our ssb class, using much slower hp cars, but they all race at the same time. They use ballast to level out the competition, and move guys around on the grid for race 2 on the weekend.
I have often felt that taking a ssb or t1 style car to a world challenge event is a great place for up and comming guys to get noticed. We have no true ladder in road racing, the current ladder is called a checkbook, and I hope we can get away from this format, in order for teams to hire talent not the checkbooks of the world.
I would much rather watch talented drivers in a sponsored car over the 50 something (no offense intended) rich guy who has zero talent.

I resent that last remark ........some of us guys approaching 50 and over have no talent at all........
