zc or b16a1?
Guys,
I'm just curious as to what you'd prefer for a swap in a '91 CRX Si...the ZC or the B16A1 and why? I've done a lil reading on both and kinda have my mind made up....

if you kinda have your mind made up and read up on all the pros and cons why ask? You gonna get 2 sides on either motor.

both are great motors, but it depends on what your end result is...what kind of set up are you trying to run? boost/all-mota powa?
I vote b16..
Its a better platform..
More available oem and aftermarket parts..
It responds to bolt-ons very well..
High revving motor..
Also you get to use a b-series tranny..
Only problem is the price..$1300+another $600 for the parts to put it in..

I helped my friend put it in his car.. he bought the motor from http://hmotorsonline.com..It was pretty clean..
The mounts, shift linkage, and axles were all hasport and bought from a H-T member..

Zc motor is $500 and only includes the longblock but it bolts into the 88-91 chassis..
b16 swaps go for around 1300 and then you have to buy the neccesary components to put it in your car..

Another major portion of the cost is installation (if needed), wiring changes (if needed), and anything that goes wrong during the process that needs to be fixed...

ZC.
i've had one for over six years, and loved every mile of it. it's been through nitrous, and now it's about to be supercharged. still purs like a kitten (if they sounded like engines), passes the sniffer with flying colors and parts for it are cheap and EASY to find (despite what everybody likes to spread around).
it's about to be supercharged with all sorts of bolt-on goodies. and i have no doubt it'll hold up just fine and make me even happier with it.
i've driven numerous different B16 setups, some fully built, and some mostly stock. and NONE of them have impressed me enough to give up my ZC. they have the same amount of torque, so it's all top end...6000+ rpm. and i rarely get that high in the rpm range.
the only Bseries to impress me, was the B20vtec setup i had for a while. and even after a while of that, i traded it for my ZC back! haha

where did you get your zc from? And I have kind of a dumb question...being new to this and all (I couldn't have cared less about cars 1 year ago....then I found out about the crx
) what exactly is "SiR" or "Type-R?"
