I bought a 97-01 Integra radio off Ebay and they said they will provide the VIN and serial number of radio so I can get the security code from Acura. Does anyone know how I do this? Call the dealer?

I just phoned my local Acura dealer and found out the original selling dealer and they provided me with the code.

 

Just call Acura and give them the serial number off of the back of the radio. Then they can tell you what the code is.

Yeah that's fukked up.

If I don't personally know you, I won't give you a radio code over the phone or PM. Why? Because it's basically supporting thieves. Think about it. The very same people you guys are trying to protect your car from breaks into your car, takes your factory radio, and puts it on ebay to sell. You buy it and call your dealership for the radio code with the serial number and they give you no hassle. So the thieves are going to continue breaking into your cars as long as there is a market for it. Not saying that yours was stolen bro, but we have a strict policy to radio codes, navi codes, and key codes. We don't take it lightly at our dealership and we have copies of IDs and proof of ownership. If it was purchased off a junkyard a reciept must be furnished along with ID.

Call it stupid or whatever, but this is the same reason why identity theft is on the rise, the person behind the counter isn't doing what they're "supposed" to do and card the person. Sure it's an extra couple steps, but if it's legit then you shouldn't have anything to hide and furnish all documents.

i used to work at a stereo shop and they would do it for us over the phone.i have also called from home with the serial number and one other number off of he back and told them i was from a local stereo shop and they gave it to me as well.just take out your radio,have it in your hand when you call and when they answer,give them your name and tell them you are from whatever the name of your local shop is, and they will give it to you.oh yeah,acura dealers can give you honda codes as well as honda ones can give you acura codes.
