Looking for a shop/shops in Chicagoland area that stock a variety of racing seats....
I'm looking for a fixed-back, 5-point ready seat for my road/track car. I'd like to try a few out for fitting before I buy one for x-mas.
I know stock seat belt fitment will be a pain in the hip, but i'm willing to deal with that until i get a cage this spring.
Yes, I am aware that there are a bunch of very nice, competitive, track-ready and perhaps street-legal cars for sale on this board. However, most of the important things i've learned by now have been the hard way, so why not follow suit with my street/track kaaa?
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA

I think your best best is Northstar Motorsports in Barington. http://www.northstarmotorsports.com/

Chris N and I have been to Northstar before. Nice place and have several seats in the showroom for you to test fit. But..... I found that most seats (and racing suits) there are very big, maybe because the shop is specialized in Porsche and majority of their customers are, hmmm, fat.
I think the best way is to go to a track event and look around the paddock area. There would be plenty of varieties and 90% of the owners would not mind you try out their seats.

I've been there and it's a nice place. Set aside a few minutes(hours) to hang out upstairs.
A lot of good reading there...
