ok my idle is low and then dies only when i downshift. somebody said my cables are loose and i need new ones. also i think my battery has had it so would those items make my car die? also when im driving at night and i ha ve my ligths on my tach and cd player turn off. but work with teh lights off.please help

Do a simple test to see what is killing what, your battery might not be holding a charge or your alternator might not be charging it.

Take a dvom ( volt meter ) and hook it up to your battery, tell me the readings. Then start the car up with the volt meter attached and tell me the readings.
