Springs
End of the month I plan to order a lot of new products for my Teggy. I just wondering what suspension system I should get. Money is of no issue. I was thinking of the Tein Damper SS. But, I don't know for sure. What are your opinions? Thanks in advance.

there are a few very recent threads about this with LOTS of responses, if you would just search a bit. and the question is sooo general it makes it hard to answer.
that said, for daily driving and occasional twisty road fun, I love my Ground Control/Tokico Illumina setup. Koni makes a better adjustable shock, but if money is tight, the Illuminas are no slouch. got my setup for less than $700 I believe. add another $100 or so for Koni instead.
[edit]:: just noticed you said money is no concern. I want to be on YOUR xmas list! and in that case, definately go with Koni Yellow [adjustable] if you are doing separate shocks/springs rather than a full-coilover.

it is if you do autox. IMO.. its kinda like bling.. just like having a turbo timer on a subaru.. you dont need it cuz there turbo's are oil and water cooled..
i say if you're just doing simple street driving, and no autox.. get gc's and koni's.. or even cheaper, get a good set of springs, and some koni's. then buy your camber kit.. and call it a day

I plan on doing a full coilovers on my teggy. As for the autox, I will keep in mind the edfc. That is future plans.

NOTE: what this guy is doing is not adviseable unless temporary [if the car is lowered]. ground controls are adjustable, so you could be at stock height, but just remember that stock shocks are on a countdown as soon as you lower the car. and unless your springs were in bad shape, why not just put them on with the shocks? I know I wouldn't fancy taking it all apart twice unless I had to....

So, when I do this setup I have to replace the struts as well. Right? More then I thought. You can tell I am a newbie. lol!
Well, trying my best to learn all of this. Thanks for all your help.

well you dont HAVE TOO.. but it's very very recomended to do so, because ur stock shocks are set and made for only so much travel allowed by the stock springs. when you lower the shock rod into the base more, you put extra pressure on the whole setup, gaskets and what not, to give you dampening while you drive.. this will cause extra wear and tear on the shocks thus blowing them..
a aftermarket shock/strut is already designed in mind for lowered applications also. and even those have a set amount as to how low you can have your car before those actually start wearing out on you. i know koni's and illumina's have high tolerances for low applications, agx's and any non adjustable shocks, im not too sure with, i know gr2's from tokico are a stock replacement. koni reds.. not sure on those either or any of the agx's. i do know agx's have an adjustable strut, but its cheap, and not sure how well they work.
so it's almost a must to replace them when you lower your whip, think of it this way k? either way you're going to be replacing them, via blown shock or your decision to replace them now.
just do it now and get it over with. i got a good deal on illumina's from Power_garage@yahoo.com , you can also find powergarage on ebay.. the guy's name is ken. tell him i sent you and he'll fix you up with a good deal

if you aren't too worried about adjustable shocks, the Koni reds are the same internally as the yellows, but non-adjustable. and I believe they have the best warranty regarding lowered cars.
Koni reds are adjustable, but they have to be removed from the car and you have to compress the shaft and turn it in order to adjust the damping. Some yellows are the same way (88-91 Civic/CRX?). Not convenient, but pretty good for such a reasonable price.
Also, I think Koni yellows have slightly better valving than Reds. You might want to ask 'CRX Lee' for specifics. This is what they post on the Koni North America site:
A: The KONI Special (red) has been engineered to maximize the ride comfort with good handling performance for each vehicle application. The KONI Sport (yellow) typically starts at a higher initial valving baseline to give a sportier feel and work on vehicles with higher performance parts. In some instances, KONI will only offer a Special or Sport valving and not both. Some modern cars come from the factory with higher tech suspension systems and wheel/tire packages so they would move directly into the Sport range, however they are still valved to give a comfortable ride with very good handling capabilities.
