95 GSR clutch "chatter" in first - need suggestions and cause
I've got a 95 GSR I just started driving for the winter. Just recently (last two or three days) the clutch has developed chatter letting it out in first (take off from dead stop). Any ideas what could cause this?
You can feel it in the pedal, like it's kinda sticking. I assume the clutch has worn down to the rivets and that's why it's so grabby like.
It only does it in first gear. Every other gear shifts fine and the clutch engages smooth. Also, it looks like the master cylinder (clutch) is leaking, but I recently filled and bled it. I also just dumped in 2.3 qts of GM synchromesh. That's about the time this started.
If it was the clutch disc (wearing down to the rivets), wouldn't it just slip, or would it cause the symptoms I've listed? Also, at high RPM's, the car seems to shake a little left to right. That also started at the same time.
Any help is appreciated. I don't want to tear down the winter beater.

you need your flywheel resurfaced..... you got what they call hot spots on it and it causes that chattering.... had that on my old civic, it would cause the dash to shake....

Yea, I like that..."JUST" remove the trans and get a performance clutch kit with flywheel...
Am I "JUST" supposed to **** out a new clutch kit? I don't think my sphincter gets that big.
Any body think it could be an inner CV joint? And if it is the flywheel, how would it happen all of a sudden like?

I did spill a bunch of oil on the motor when filling the tranny. The damn funnel tipped over. I wouldn't of thought it could seep into the bell housing and all over the clutch though. Guess it's possible.
If that is the case, will it wear away eventually and go back to normal?
