Default ATTN: UT, NV, WY, ID Honda-Tech Members: New Road Race Track for SL Valley

Honda-Tech members, meet Larry Miller and Tom Mabey. Larry Miller and Tom Mabey, meet local Honda-Tech members. You're about to be good friends.

That's right, your new buddies Larry Miller and Tom Mabey have proposed a new 4 mile road course perfectly suited for SCCA to be built between Salt Lake and Tooele. The Planning and Zoning Commission have already approved the plans, now it's just up to residents and the county commission.

This is supposed to be quite the track too. I have never really been that interested in road racing because I have never had a place to go locally, but now this is making me want to ditch my plans for an all out drag car and maybe put some money into good tires and suspension.

Check out the full story here: http://deseretnews.com/dn/view....html

It looks like their may be a chance for us to go show our support in some upcominig hearings on the matter. If so, maybe we could post information here about them so we can make ourselves known and that we are in favor of safe, legal racing.

same here. If this is more than just an idea and might actually happen, I'll do whatever it takes to help support it. We need a track badly

yeah, Larry Miller has wanted to do this for a long time. It was probably a mistake letting the word slip before now though. The difference now is that they have found a spot in which it would be feasible to build the track, and they just have to take the proper steps.

It may be all approved as early as January, then they just have to build it.

yeah, I really don't anticipate that the track will be open for at least 2 years.

But man, I can remember racing out at RMR starting in 99 when their were like 15 imports there and look where it's at now. Racing could become a really big thing in this area like it is other areas of the country. I'd love to see that.

This one's a little bit older, but I thought it was interesting that Larry Miller says he's willing to do this whether it's profitable or not.

Their has to be some way for us to show our support.. Others have proposed this same type of thing before, but I don't think any have gotten this far.

*crosses fingers*

Sorry, I have kinda sucked it up on keeping up with this. I was unaware of recent hearings held in Tooele county, but they seem to have gone quite well from what I have seen. This thing is really starting to look like a go!!

There is the proposed map of the track.

I found some good info on the Utah Sport Bike Associations website, here's the link:
