Default MyCar "locks up"

my 6gen i4 locks up after i release the throttle. by 'lock up', i mean that it feels like someone put the brakes on the engine and i can feel it happen. i feel this sudden pressure sort of causing resistence and preventing the car drifting forward smoothly. the car does 'unlock' so to speak after drifting for a bit and the rpms jump up a bit when it does. this started after i had my throttle body and intake valves etc cleaned by honda. i have a feeling it could be transmission related...any ideas?

hey man!!! run to honda YOUR NEXT!!!

i know the felling its one of the signs... stop signs where the worst...

whats happing

you coming to a stop in 2nd gear. and your tranny takes for ever to get back in first, and you take off then 'boom' the fells like it just got hit. then it shifts to first then and so on...

*Hint hint* anywhere you stop for now on wait for 5 seconds before you take off, so it gives the tranny time to shift to first

whats your mileage on the vehicle??

whens the last time you changed the tranny fluid? take the dipstick and give it a smell for burnt/color change...

invest in a tranny cooler, couldnt hurt for less than 50$ shipped on ebay (size 401) is for accords if i remember right.

It doesnt help. I had my tranny fluid relplaced at 25,000 miles by Honda (I went in early, even) and by 31, my tranny was shot and it had fried my fluid. The servicepeople basically made 'wtf' faces at my tranny fluid and said 'well we're getting you a new tranny'

it doesnt feel like i get hit, its not anything that harsh but that did happen once where it felt like i was rear-ended

i have changed the transmissio fluid at honda about 6k-9k ago. The milage is only 58k. I bought the car at 45K.

No warranty for my car. How much do you guys think it will cost to replace the tranny? Or should I just sell it? The car is super clean and I would like to keep it but if the cost outweigh the benefits, I guess I'll have to get rid of it.

ok people, seriously this is why I drive a stick

I just completely dismantled my transmission so I could put it in reverse, you don't do that with an automatic (didn't cost me a dime I should add). Trust me, you will save a lot more money in the end and have more fun in the meantime.

I don't say this to be mean or sarcastic, but almost hands down whatever kind of make/model at some point or another you're gonna dump a grand or more into fixing your transmission. Not the case with a manual transmission. If you baby it you can go 200k without replacing a clutch, even then you're looking at a few hundred bucks...and its predictable.

I wish I had a manual, I probably wouldnt be so frustrated with the car...

It's what I have, not what I want

automatic tranny's do last a long time also... just the fact that HOW you drive the car itself also matters or how the previous owner drove it... honestly speaking i drove like it was a damn formula car the first time i purchased a accord and blew my tranny at 97k around...

since everything got rebuilt and i still do spirited drives (who doesnt) got myself a tranny cooler, changed my fluids every 2 oil changes... never had a problem.

and to rebuild a tranny from a shop in my area they charged me 900 for labor & parts, got the car out by 2 days.
