is there a difference between AUTO and MANUAL starters?
I need a new starter, can i use a automatic one for my manual b18b?
AND
just as importantly - can i use a starter from a b18a?
Thanks

Yes, to confirm.....automatic starter and manual starter are different. Bolts do not align to the opposite transmission.
For example: 5-speed starter won't bolt onto automatic tranny, and vice versa.
Starters between the B18A and B are the same provided they are both either from a 5-speed or from an automatic.

if you have 92 to 01 gsr with a manual trani only that and a 96 trough 97 del sol starter will work. If you had a 94 to 01 gsr a 86-89 integra d16a1, 84-00 civic/si except hx series, 84-91 crx dx/hf with d15/d16b or a 93-97 del sol non vetec. they would all work with a automatic trani
