Default final product (was)will engine paint work

I was reading a DIY on here about changing the light color behind your gauges and buttons, someone mentioned that there was a problem with the paint cracking over time, but in the image he was just using Testors model spray paint or something like that. I picked up some engine block paint with a high heat tolerance, so you think that will help keep the paint from coming off?

Yeah, it'll also do a good job of keeping the light from being emitted too.
The reason people say to "use testors" is because its a thin, translucent paint.

Wow!....amazing of the logics in this one...LOL nice try bud, but the thing is to make it transparent like the other guy said. If you use the solid colored engine paint, even though the bulbs are actually on, it'll just flat out not shine any light for ya anymore bro...LOL!

It would either deform or explode. I'm a lighting designer for my high school, and my friends and painted a EHG 750watt lamp with silver spray paint. Stuck it in a 6X9 and it just popped. It was kinda loud. With these lamps if you even touch the glass for 1sec after a few hours of use it will grow a boil, seen some pretty cool looking ones. (This was a lamp that was losing color temp, looked yellow so it wasn't a waste of a $22 lamp for those of you guys that actually know what I'm talking about)

ok, got them done with some Testors Gloss Red.. I even painted those clear rings around the gauges flat black so it is just back lit and there is no light coming in from the sidees... I'm happy, sorry the image quality sucks, let me know what you think.

If you painted the two bulbs in the top (front side) of your cluster, your needles are going to be pretty hard to see at night now...
