Default Tranny died at 106,349 miles old

alright its kinda late to ask this since my kar is useless at the moment,

My tranny has been slipping since 6 months ago, and on thursday i noticed vtec was hitting too hard in my kar that my tires where spinning and screaming.

On friday i went to pick up my dad at carmax to do some errans, everything seemed fine ..
after i droped him off at carmax again so he can pick his car up, i left and drove 39 miles to a high school to pick up my friend. I was waitting outside for about 30 mins and i turned the car off, i tried to turn it back on when she came out, but it wouldnt start like the bat. was low or something. then it started up fine, and i took off and started to drive.. the car started to slip and skip on gears and stay off gears and shifted harder then ever.

to make story short..
she died on a stop sign in a back road at 12:08 pm on saturday...and that was it

heres my Q'

i have asked over 3 people i know about my tranny,

two said it was my tranny screen cloged up, the other one said it was gone..

kuz it will work for 4 mins then go out after 9 mins... over heating?

IT'S more than likely toasted the overdrive . Get a new one or better yet send yours to the Trans shop in CA who will rebuild it for up to 750 hp . I will not list the co here due to the fact I am NOT trying to advertise for them . Check on the net under Honda transmission rebuilders . Mine has 189,000 mi;les on it ZERO problems but I change the fluid every oil change since it reached 100,000 miles . It's VERY easy to change and since I run Mobile one that comes at every 7500 miles .

I would say that its probably dead. Get your wallet ready. I have heard people have been having problems with 98-99 V6 auto trannies. I also heard that some 00-01 trannies were having problems too.

The manual trannies are damn near bullet proof, while the auto trannies are extremely weak.

Sorry for your loss with the tranny, my 6th gen tranny went as well. Go bitch at the Honda dealership to see if theyll replace it for free.

NOW, not to be rude, but this is just a perfect setup:

Let's see, a red Accord in Texas, something's broken on it, I check the name, oh, it's NOT thatonejewishguy. Surprising, really...

I think it is time for a group buy for 6gen auto tranny's. Or, honda-tech can start a section " Accord Tranny exchange" where members can post what trannys for sale and trannys that are needed. also, experts can put together a tranny compatibility matrix detailing which trannys can work in which cars.

Opinions please

if you got an auto tranny and dont chagne the oil at least once every 15k miles in the tranny then its most likely gonna die on you.

that would be smart, since we have so much trannys going out and people in need for one.

ruthless

more than likely they wont....didnt they just have a 100K warranty on the auto trannies? who knows tho, maybe they could pull a few strings and get you a HUGE discount on one.

Is it 5 years/100k? Anyways, there's been so many complaints about the trannies, i'd agree with FJ and go ask for some kind of discount or whatnot at the dealership...

i agree on the auto trannies being extremely weak. I hate my shitty transmission...its like everytime it shifts gears i can feel it...so i try to accelerate slowly so i dont feel it so roughly. Its one of the many reasons why i wanna go manual

i feel you man.. i wanted a manual to have more control of my car..now im stuck replacing my auto tranny

.....
to tell you the truth i think its ATC is at fault... i mean like why make it shift so hard?

i rode in my dads gailent(bad spelling yes i know) man... that was smooth ride.. i was like dad i hate you i want your tranny..lol i was just joking with him tho.. the sad part im 20..haha

i mean when my tranny was younger i tried to shift manualy from 1 to 2 to d3.. and you know what it was smoother... just switch it at 3.1k then your set.. but i did it once in the blue moon tho..

i wonder if honda has a upgraded ATC unit on them. or a 3rd partie one i can buy for better shifting and a smoother ride as well

P.S to test your tranny try to shift like that.. if it responds really slow .bad news your next

POINT BEING , YOU CAN SPEND YOUR MONEY AT A DEALER FOR AROUND $0000.00 OR SEND YOURS OUT AND GET IT BULLET PROOF , SAVING YOU ANOTHER REBUILD IF YOU ARE INTENDING ON KEEPING YOUR CAR THAT LONG .

WE RACE ONE WITH FULL EVERYTHING IN TEXAS AND IT RUNS IN THE 10S AND WE DRIVE IT TO WORK DAILY . YES THAT IS QUARTER MILE TIMES . GOOD LUCK
