3rd gens with high miles? got a few questions
I have 172,000 miles on my '89 Si and it runs great,
just curious:
1) How long can i expect this thing to run?
2) What kind of miles do you 3rd genners have?
3) It still has the original: starter, fuel pump, alternator, clutch (will any of these die out from your experience?)
thanks people

You can expect it to run as long as you maintain it.
I have 210k on mine, and it runs great, and I auto-x it every chance I get.
All those items you listed do have a tendency to wear out after a while. I've replace niether the starter of fuel pump (still OEM), but I had to replace the clutch once, and the current clutch has about 50000 mi on it. Also, the alternator gave out, but I just replaced the brushes (which are the part that wear out on an alternator.). Cost me $8, and it works just fine now.
So long as you take good care of the car, you can enjoy it (i.e. drive hard) for a loooooong time.

My buddy sold my lil sister an 88 Si back in Feb, it currently has 286 thousand and still runs great, its had the alternator, distributor, and starter all replaced after about 220 thousand. the only bad part is it has developed some nice rust holes behind the rear wheels and one right at the upper right corner on the roof, which leaks onto the passanger some in rain. but i am amzed at how the thing still runs, its one reason i just bought my 93 si with 142 thousand.
I bought the brushes from honda ($8 with employee discount). It must admit I can't remember the specifics of the job, but basically you just take the distributor off, take the rear cover off, then the brushes are right there. It's not hard at all.
hey guys I just bought a 90 prelude si, and I was just wondering if there are any good websites to buy upgrades such as intake, exhaust, springs..........etc.
