Do you think its worth the time and money to work with a D16Y7 engine?
if you are going turbo it would be worth it but since you are in the all motor forum im sure you were talking about n/a, and i say its not worth it if you want a real fast car, but if you just want a little extra power go for it
if you are looking to stick all motor, your best bet is to ditch the Y7 head and intake manifold for a Y8 head/IM. search for bauleycivic's mini-me writeup.
Dollar per dollar, you will yeild larger power gains from a B-series. But if your ultimate goal isn't gobs of power and low ET's while staying naturally aspirrated, then an all motor SOHC is not a horrible choice by any means. I've driven some fun SOHC's that are not boosted.
However, if you are planning on making a big project with big power numbers in mind, boost, or B-series. Otherwise you will be pouring more money into a smaller engine with less potential.

we all know the B-series has more potential, but this guy wants to build up what he has.
Not everyone is shooting for 400+ HP. and not everyone has $5K to spend on the car.

I never said he shouldn't. I was simply informing him that he shouldn't expect large power gains.
As I said previously, a SOHC can be a very fun platform to build upon. Even better when theres some boost ran through it.

put a shaved VTEC head on there and drop a ZEX stage 2 cam in there. That should give you mid to high 14s with regular bolt ons.
I know Revhard makes a nice kit for the Y7.

yea i was wondering abiut that rev hard kit i dont get it all i would get is 20 hp and id have double my horsepower(120) in torque...its hard to belive i would only have 20 more ponies....and i doubt it means 120 added on to my horse power already can anyone clear this up..
I did a turbo setup on a stock d16y7 and ran 12.75@108 in a gutted crx.. The y7 motor is great for doing turbo setups..
