you need one of thos conversion kits, not every brand of cd players have the same type of plugs.

The later (97 and up?) Hondas use a different plug on the radio, as you have learned. I made an adapter that plugs in, or you could cut and splice... *shudder*

find the plug in a junk yard. ask in the forum that applies to that car how the wiring goes. it should fit into your car you'll just have make up a plug that matches your wiring.

It looks like the 99-00 Si I have.

For wiring, look at the wiring diagrams for each style plug, and just match up wires. Power to power, speaker to speaker. Takes 3 minutes with some butt connectors.

If it came from 98 you will have to use parts of the 98 harness or a conversion harness that you can pick up at Best Buy or your local Audio store.

i gotcha covered i do car audio/security for a living.

up until 1997-1998ish honda used the same harness for audio in their cars. thats the one from our crx and hatchbacks.

the radio you have is most likley the newer style of hondas 98+ which is a smaller, more square plug. lucky for you a company called metra makes reverse harnesses which is the male end you need to stick into that radio.

then all youd have ot do is cut off you current plug (BUT SAVE IT, and leave slack in case you change your mind) and wire up this newer style plug, using tape, solder is suggested.

heres the part number and a link for you:

Metra 71-1721
http://www.mobilcaraudio.com/c...5.htm

have fun.

For the harness, I got a pigtail harness from best buy that fit the car, and a radio repair harness that fits the radio from honda. The repair harness plugs into the radio and has ~8 inches of wire, for damaged (stolen) radio harnesses. Spent a little money, but it's instantly removable if I get something else.

You can get the part that plugs into the radio, but unless you're lucky and find a car with an aftermarket radio that has the adapter plug that fits your car, you'll have to get that from somewhere else.

yes, but then youll need the color codes for both, and match them up. if you get the aftermarket piece, it will have instructions on the bag as to what the colors are.

it saves you a step, but either will work. ok?

listen to him. then as someone else said get the respective one for your car the female one to install a aftermarket deck. solder the 2 together, and u have a plug n play honda cd player.

junkyard will have them too ( the male one that plugs into the back of the cd player, and your local bestbuy or audioshop for the other one.)

Didn't know Best Buy sold a harness repair kit.
After my CD player got jacked and the wires all cut up I just spliced the new CD player to the cut wires.
Guess that'll be a winter weekend project.
