Dear Garvin and Steve:
Working at Sherwin Williams has been a rewarding and great job. However, I received a job offer at American Express on Friday, March 9th and have decided to persue it. Unfortunately, the training program I was placed in starts on March 19th, which is a week ahead of the one I was originally scheduled to attend. This is shorter notice than I was intending to give, but my placement into the training schedule was out of my control. I appreciate everything thats been done for me, and have enjoyed working for the company.
Best regards,
Casey Whitaker

Most off the shelf octane boosters will boost octane only a very minimal amount. That 5-8 points thing is a lie. If you have 91 octane in the tank and you dump a 16oz can of octane boost into your tank, you will NOT end up with 96 or 99 octane gas. you will end up with like 91.7 octane. Not worth the money.
Now if you want a REAL octane boost, goto a chemical supply store and buy a can of pure Xylene. And use that. That really works compared to that Outlaw or NOS crap.

Well, not to play devil's advocate or anything, but when they say raises octane
by 5-8 points, they mean 1 point = .1
Amazing though, people still buy the **** thinking it works...

They suck.
If you really want higher octane gas, go and get it from a gas station.
Bite the bullet and pay extra for 100 octane and mix the right
amount with your 91/92 to get the desired octane.
A good mixing chart is found here:

What is Xylene, if I may ask? Will it mess up your o2 sensor? And lastly does it work just like higher octane like 100 and so forth? Info would be greatly appreciated.
Xylene is a hydrocarbon. It's most common use is as paint thinner, BUT Xylene, Toluene, etc are all key ingredients in gasoline (they're also used in a lot of Octane Boosters). It is safe for O2 sensors. You can find it at most places like Sherwin Williams or Home Depot. 1 can of Xylene mixed with 92 octane pump gas should boost octane levels significantly. My S4 requires 100 octane race gas at every fill up. I will usually mix Xylene with pump gas, if race gas isn't available. It still works fine.
As a side note: In CA, some 76 gas stations carry 100 octane race gas.

I also understand that you need to run it through twice, like two tankfulls, the first so your ecu can learn the difference, and second so that you feel it!

i use it just to get the knocking out of my engine
i dont know if it really bumps up the compression
5-8 points. i would sugguest the nos stuff
all the other stuff will just burn your o2 sensor

Is there a particular method for calculating Xylene vs. 93 octane?
Like X parts of gas and Y parts of Xylene = 98 octane or whatnot?
I'd be interested in trying this out. My newly built B20 in my CX has 12.3:1 compression. It's not detonating... but it would be nice to know this works.

Yes octane boosters do work, but are useless on a R. I never dynoded my TT with the octane booster but I use it on the street when I turn up the boost. On the track race fuel is a must.

no 100 octane gas around here
used to be 99 but not anymore. So this xylene stuff is actually safe? If so ill give it a try

You wouldn't happen to be Warren ****, would you? Oh and BTW, would you happen to have any pics of that race between X-Ricer and that blown S2K that he raced a while back? I'd love to see some.

I've found octane boosters to do a great job of fouling plugs, I prefer now to just throw about 2-3 gallons of VP 100 into every tank of 93 and it usually does the job, that and at 4.50 a gallon it only adds up to about 2 dollars more than 2 octane boosters, and it smells a hell of alot better.

Dont work with ANY gas.
NOS Race formula is different in the fact that it adds a small amount of
nitromethanol. But it wont raise the octane that much.

is the 100 octane gas unleaded or leaded...i am taking you should only mix unleaded with unleaded right and has anyone confirmed this xylene thing...
114&116 have alot of lead in them...
hmmmm I run 100 shot of nos and I use the nitrous octane booster and it seems to work well I go with 1/4 tank of gas and throw like 1/2 the bottle in there hehehehe works fine for me.....
